Rain rain please rain

It’s only been less than a quarter into the year and so much is already happening in our dear country. Tensions have been rising in the political arena, added up with the draught that has been around since the start of Chinese New Year, now the haze, and more recently the missing MH370. With all these going about in our midst, I’m reminded that we are to look to God in every situation. The prayer month of March was also timely, as we desperately need the touch of God in our nation.

Truth be told, I’ve never been that in to corporate prayer, expressing my heart to God in full awareness of the presence of others around me. But through the years attending Praise City, I’ve come to realise the importance and power in coming together in prayer, to seek the face of God. There is also much to learn from my fellow brothers and sisters in this area. Being on my own, I will only be able to grow up to a certain level, but when I pray with others I got to know that I can also be either blessed or be a blessing unto other fellow believers. It is during these times that I get to fill up my spiritual tank, so that I can face the outside world with the confidence of the Lord.

Besides filling myself up, I also learned that it is one of the many languages of love that God speaks. I was following this worship training from Gateway Worship on YouTube, and it was a 12 series video about the correlation of the Old Testament worship and today’s approach to worship. At the end of the last video, the pastor was talking about languages of love, by first telling about the levels of intimacy between different people-his friend, children, wife and himself. And he goes on to say that the more intimate we are with God, the more ways we are to be able to communicate with him. There are basically 5 languages of love – physical touch, words of affirmation, gifts, quality time and acts of service. And God speak all 5 of them, and our job is to ask God, how we can show him love in these 5 areas rather than just be fluent in only one. If we take for example, our moms, at times to show our love for her, it would be that in the form of quality time, but should we be ignorant of the language she is currently speaking and go instead for the giving of gifts, we might not have conveyed our love in the best way for that moment. It probably won’t cause much trouble but it might have helped much in ministering to her spirit and her feeling the love if we had been able to apply the right language.

As much as we always express our love to our loved ones, we should also remember to express our love to God, not just on Sundays, not just in songs of worship, or when we need his divine help to send rain or save us from our troubles, but in every way, by acknowledging him, his power, sovereignty in our lives. I have to always remind myself, that as much as we say God is our loving, merciful and compassionate heavenly Father, he is also God Almighty, that is to be feared, revered in awe, and is a jealous God who is worthy of all our worship. Sometimes I do forget these thing, and I slip. Sometimes,
God saves me before I even hit the ground. But sometimes he lets me fall, and then lifts me up again. Falling down hurts. A lot. But then it served as a good reminder to me, to be more careful in the thing of God.
Ever since watching the whole series of worship training on YouTube as well as attending Worship 101 workshop, I’ve definitely grown more aware of God’s awesomeness and his great love towards me, in every situation. Whatever you are going through, know that as surely as the sun rises and sets, all things will come to pass. Just hold on tightly to Jesus the perfector of our faith, and the hope you’re looking for will come soon enough. Rely not just on your spiritual leaders, but seek God on your own. As much as he can speak through the people around you, he is more than glad to speak to you directly should you open up to him. He is the best person you can ever count on for everythin

Prayer !

The prayer life of a Christian is one of the powerful weapons we hold that could break boundaries and witness great and wonderful things happening.

After attending last Thursday's prayer meet, Saturday & Sundays Healing Service,
I believe that many hearts were touched and it has placed a renewed spirit among the youths.

"No temptation[a] has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted[b] beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted,[c] he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."

                                                                                                                         -1 Corinthians 10:13

And after a break from last weekend Youth service is back again! And today a touching testimony has been shared by one of our youths Lee Fui Jinn, who has accepted Christ since she was at a young age but never got the approval by her family to actually be baptised, after a long wait and fervent prayers, God has finally answered her prayers and she has been baptised today! Isn't it amazing that with prayer all things are made possible?

Before  I wrap things up here's song that I'd like to share,
For those thinking that you have nobody to look to at times when you're down and weak,
Don't forget that God's always beside you :) Just a prayer away my friend!
God bless

Heart of Christmas

As you all know, Christmas is just about a week a way,
Busy streets, Packed Malls, Fancy Trees and Lights.
But not much caroling this time round, in fact it's been years since
I last heard heart warming chorales from anywhere, maybe it's just me .

But on the bright side, many churches are preparing to bring out the best of Christmas,
And that of course includes our church's very own:

So if you have nothing up on your calendar this 21 and 22nd , come along and witness this awesome musical that the members of Praise City Church has been working hard for months!
You can go to the event page here .

Youngsters are definitely psyched for Christmas as much as the adults are,
Imagine all the presents and parties that's coming their way, it's gonna be heaps of fun,
But amidst all the extra sugar we're getting from this occasion, let's not forget the
true meaning of Christmas, of how God sent his one and begotten son Jesus,
to save mankind, to save us.
To save you and I
And erase the mess we left behind.
Something called forgiveness out of love.

Just yesterday,I read a novel about a dying father whose Christmas wish was to be with his family
and to mend the strained relationship he has with his teenage daughter.I bet you guys can guess how the ending is like? No worries, it ended good .
After that while scrolling my social news feed I realised that a friend's mother of mine
passed away due to some illness. He wasn't by her side during the passing as he was abroad.
Then it hit me that time isn't always there to be taken for granted, that I should spend more time with my loved ones while I can.

Youngsters these days tend to have more emotional outbreaks,
And sometimes, we just say things that we shouldn't have said in front of our parents or relatives,
Now I'm not saying that i'm not included in this, I have my moments too!
But to bring it down, neither sides of the family would feel happy about it, and neither will you.

So let's also remember our families and relatives this coming Christmas.
Let's share the joy with them besides keeping it among our friends.
Let's learn how to forgive each other of the past and start living in the future.
And for those family members and relatives that has yet to know the about Jesus,
Let's learn how to love them even more, like how God has loved us despite our shortcomings.

As I bring a close to this post,
Here's a song I'd like to share,
Have a blessed Christmas everyone!
