Another milestone

The pace of living seems to be increasing since the past decade. Everything is expected to be fast and instant. Fast cars, instant noodles, broadband speed, highways... They’ve even invented instant banana fritters!

All these inventions and initiatives are indeed good progress in terms of saving time (err... Shouldn’t this mean reaching on time for appointments?) , easier learning outside of classroom, increased convenience in living. However, it has also made a large majority of us to be less patient when it comes to endeavors. We want instant success, with reduced effort and sacrifice on out side, and do not have the endurance and perseverance when trials come our way. Therefore, many of us fail to prepare for the future, and sometimes we lose the chance to grab the chance when opportunity arrives for a breakthrough.

One of the secret ingredients to success is this - preparation. Even our forefathers in the bible had to go through this before they became great men of God. Joseph was prepared to be pharoah’s trusted man by having to first learning on how to trust in God despite the circumstances, whether good or bad to always rely on Him. Then there was David who was prepared to be king of Israel by going through the life of a shepherd boy, and by that know that God can use just anything and anyone should they set their hearts towards Him. Apart from that, all of them heard God’s call upon their life, and they responded.

In the past few years, our church has been growing steadily and it would seem that God is calling us towards the direction of expansion. While awaiting His call to lead us to wherever the future may be for Praise City Church, we decided to prepare, as did our forefathers. One of the most recent initiative that we carried out was held last Malaysia Day (16 Sept), which was a gala dinner.

There were food, performances, music, jokes and an auction set to entertain the crowd and it certainly was a success, not just in terms of the number of tables sold out, but the people that we invited. I’m so glad that many of our family and friends who have yet to know Jesus came and joined us in this milestone event, and we were able to show them a glimpse of who we serve and live our lives for. Hopefully, through the event they have come another step nearer to knowing Him for who He is.
